Waterproofing of the facade: why and how to do it correctly

Waterproofing of the facade is an important stage, which implies the creation of effective protection of the walls from moisture penetration. Thus, a comfortable atmosphere for living is created in the room, without moisture, mold and mildew.

In addition, properly performed waterproofing works can significantly extend the operational period of the building structure.

Modern materials for installation of waterproofing

A large selection of building materials for this type of work makes it possible to make the most correct choice for each individual object. The process takes into account the material of the walls, facade cladding, weather conditions of a particular region and user characteristics.

Particular attention is also paid to the operational period of the waterproofing layer and the features of its application. Usually, craftsmen work with the following format of materials:

  • membrane coatings - are produced in the form of a sheet of a certain size, subject to fixation to the surface using an adhesive base;
  • sprayed - have an elastic structure, are offered in the form of sprays sprayed on the surface to form a moisture-proof film;
  • coating - have a base of bitumen or cement and polymers, are applied with a trowel or spatula;
  • injection - this type is used by professional craftsmen using special equipment, ensures deep penetration of the substance on an epoxy, cement or polyurethane base into the thickness of the facade.

The last type of waterproofing is classified as a penetrating material. Its distinctive feature is the ability to prevent facades from getting wet. The penetration depth ranges from 20 to 100 cm, while the concrete structure can change. The remaining varieties are considered superficial, ensuring work only on the treated surface.

Features of creating waterproofing on the facade

It is possible to create protection for the facade of the house both during construction and during major repairs. Waterproofing is installed on brick, concrete or wooden facades. The price of the work includes calculation of the volume, type and quantity of selected materials, the need to use special equipment. The general principle of the work is as follows:

  • cleaning the facade from dirt, leveling the surface, sealing cracks and seams;
  • application of a primer - special impregnations are used to promote tight adhesion of the insulating material in the future;
  • fixation of the main layer - is carried out in accordance with the technological requirements set out by the manufacturer.

The final stage is the installation of a protective layer. It is needed to prevent damage to the insulation layer from mechanical damage.

Common mistakes when installing waterproofing

The main requirement when carrying out such work is to follow the manufacturer's recommendations. Otherwise, the result will not achieve the required efficiency. Experts note a number of errors that are most common:

  • incorrectly calculated thickness of the waterproofing layer;
  • ignoring the manufacturer's installation rules;
  • choosing cheap materials of dubious quality;
  • refusing to install waterproofing layer protection.

To avoid these and other errors, as well as to create high-quality insulation, it is best to entrust such work to the professionals of "RSK ALBA". They will help with the selection and calculation of materials, ensure delivery, and perform the work quickly and efficiently in any volume.
